Workshops for Young People – 2023

Community service and sexual and reproductive health and rights are two critical issues that affect the lives of young people all over the world. In Bangalore, we have been conducting workshops and sessions in various colleges to raise awareness about these topics and to encourage young people to take action in their communities. By empowering the next generation with knowledge and resources, we hope to create a world where every individual can lead a healthy, fulfilling life and contribute to the well-being of their community.

Hidden Pockets Collective has played a pivotal role in enhancing the legal education of students at Jindal Global University (Law) through a series of enlightening sessions. Covering a range of vital topics including the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, POCSO Act, PCPNDT Act, and the imperative need for safeguarding privacy in sensitive healthcare services, these sessions have proven to be a valuable resource for aspiring lawyers. The interactive nature of these sessions has enabled students to not only grasp the legal intricacies but also gain insights into the real-world dynamics of these critical services. By encouraging them to think as young individuals and budding legal practitioners, Hidden Pockets Collective has contributed significantly to the holistic development of these law students.

On World NGO Day, the Social Work Students Association of St. Joseph’s University organized a session for Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) students on the Role of Social Work in Sexual and Reproductive Health services. The session aimed to create awareness among students about the crucial role of social workers in ensuring access to quality sexual and reproductive health services. The students learned about the challenges faced by marginalized communities in accessing healthcare and how social workers can bridge the gap between healthcare providers and these communities. The session also emphasized the importance of advocating for sexual and reproductive health rights and promoting gender equality. Overall, the session provided valuable insights to the BSW students, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute to the field of social work and promote sexual and reproductive health services.

The Humanities Association of Mount Carmel College recently hosted a session for students on inclusive wellness and joy. Led by Jasmine Lovely George from the Hidden Pockets Collective (HPC), the session aimed to explore the ever-evolving concept of well-being and what it means to individuals in today’s world. While well-being can mean different things to different people, it is important to acknowledge that we need each other as a community in our search for understanding and achieving it. The session offered a safe space for students to share their experiences and perspectives on wellness, encouraging a sense of inclusivity and openness. By promoting a holistic approach to well-being, the session empowered students to prioritize their mental, emotional, and physical health, ultimately contributing to a happier and more fulfilling life.
